LOTUSES - leaves and blossoms
Lotus blooms drifting / in forest solitude – still / floating and floating.
The Sun is laughing / spring glitters in blades of grass / held in crystal drops.
A breeze starts rising / water whispers to the blooms / dragonfly waits still.
A branch bends lower / raindrops shatter in the pond / circle in circles.
Fair is the water / a frog on a golden drop / gazes – then it jumps.
Among the stone shore / a quiet pool softly speaks / tales of long ago.
In a pond‘s still eye / an old reflection slumbers / lotuses silent.
Stars gently shiver / upon the dark pool‘s surface / night softly breathes in.

AUTHORS OF THE ILLUSTRATIONS
MARTINA KARAFIÁTOVÁ
founder of the brand Silky Gang
II channeled my long-standing fascination with Asian aesthetics, which has been with me since my youth, into the pattern of the Lotuses collection. I have always liked lotus flowers in all stages of their bloom. At the same time, I wanted to treat this popular Asian motif in a slightly different way than is usually seen. I came up with the concept of a body of water that is first covered in leaves and buds and then transforms into a complete flood of lotus blossoms. I wanted to have two patterns that would work on their own, but also build on each other and could be worn together. I once again invited illustrator Kateřina Coufalová, whose domain is mainly watercolour drawing and who has already worked on several collections for Silky Gang, to collaborate on this project. Her work has multiple positions and I wanted to introduce it in Lotuses in a slightly different way. I'm glad that silk printing was able to capture her slightly blurred artistic style, which is made possible by working with watercolour and pastel. For the collection I designed beaded brooches Blossom, Leaf and Fruit as well.

The creation of the Lotuses collection was again completely different from the previous collections. The main idea was to transfer a large-scale illustration onto a scarf to create a unique and subtle pattern. For this task, I chose watercolour, my favourite technique, typical of my work, which in this case was accentuated with pastel and crayons. The collection consists of two patterns, lotus leaves in shades of green and lotus flowers in shades of pink. On the finished scarf we see lotus leaves floating on the water, accompanied by frogs, while on the other scarf dragonflies fly above large, blooming flowers.
