We present an original scarf illustration inspired by a novel by the Japanese writer Murasaki Shikibu from the Heian period, which she wrote around 1020. The collection consists of two scarf motifs. The first, Geisha - depicts Prince Genji and four women with long flowing hair, referring to the Heian period in which the story is set. Each of them has a kimono with a motif of one season. Spring includes sakura blossoms, summer peonies, autumn maple leaves and winter plum blossoms. The foursome represents the passage of time and the prince's search for the perfect woman and ideal love. The flowing shapes of the kimonos resemble origami puzzles. The second motif, Umbrellas - is dominated by chrysanthemums, a symbol of the Japanese imperial court, and classic red paper umbrellas. The perimeter of the scarf is lined with clouds, an artistic element referring to traditional Japanese illustrations. They add depth to the scene and open up a view of the entire composition from above, as if they were momentarily parted before our eyes. The illustration was created by Bára Srp Žižková in collaboration with Martina Karafiátová, founder of the Silky Gang brand. Only 200 pieces of the motif in this size will be printed.
